The series excels in its cinematography, blending Song Dynasty aesthetics with fantasy elements, creating a dreamlike yet grounded world. The costume design, particularly Huaizhu’s flowing green robes and Hongye’s silver armor, enhances the characters' regal presence.
Liu Shishi delivers a standout performance, portraying Huaizhu’s strength and vulnerability with grace. Her martial arts sequences are fluid and elegant, making her one of the most compelling heroines in recent fantasy dramas. Zhang Yunlong’s portrayal of Hongye is equally compelling, balancing stoicism with deep emotional layers. Their chemistry is palpable, making their tragic love story all the more heartbreaking.
